Crunchy Video Tutorial – Homemade Chocolate Chip Lip Balm!

Last updated on June 19, 2017 by Crunchy Betty

I’m convinced that YouTube chooses the most awkward moments to use as the “starting frame.” It’s a very complicated embarrassment algorithm. Very tricky.

Anyway:

Tip Nut Homemade Lip Balm – That’s where I found this recipe. LOVE TipNut. If you have an ish and she doesn’t have a tip for it, your troubles are deep and my sympathy is expressed.

Here’s a printable version of the way I made it here (along with a microwave option if you’d like).

Chocolate Chip Lip Balm

  • 3 Tbsp grated or shaved cocoa butter
  • 5 organic chocolate chips
  • 1 vitamin E capsule, punctured and squeezed out

Double-Boiler Version: Add all ingredients to the top of your double boiler and melt while stirring well. Microwave version: Place all ingredients in a microwave-safe (preferably not plastic) bowl. Cook on high for 30 seconds, stir; repeat steps until all ingredients are melted. Transfer to a clean lip balm tube or tin. Let set for 2 hours (don’t touch!). Slather on at will.

If you make it – talk to me. I want to hear what you (and your daughters!) think.

Happy weekend, everybody!

Big, giant, crunchy love.

a really easy way to add something else I made to my homemade gift baskets for teachers, and a fairly cheap gift for friends and acquaintances.  Thank you so much!

I tried making it but I used sweet almond oil and i didn’t pay attention to how much i put in…. now its too watery/oilish. gonna reheat it and add more cocoa butter to see what happens.

Now that we have the funk out of my house, I am loading the kids up in search of containers and shea butter (and probably some groceries would be wise too since we not supposed to eat the lip balm!). Just another crunchy betty recipe to add to the list that lives in my house. My skin says thank you by the way. A BIG FAT CRUNCHY THANK YOU!!!!!

ok, got the stuff, made the balm, now waiting not so patiently – 30 minutes should be long enough, right?!

This looks so easy and yummy! And it has the shortest list of ingredients too, which means it will be the first one I try! Yea! (and your haircut is amazing and your video was lots of fun too and I wish I had some cocoa butter right now dang it).

Your haircut is so cute! (As I both a long, narrow face and crazy waves in my possession, I do confess a little jealously towards those who can do the short hair thing with charm.)

I’m disappointed about this balm because it seems so wonderful. Howevs, I’m trying to give up unnatural sugars so I think wearing it would be too much of temptation.

Quick question: Do you know any online stores that stock cocoa or shea butter?
