UPDATE: This was one of the first blog posts I'd ever written - especially regarding a company. As many people have, I believed Lush's ingredients were safe, natural, and pure. In fact, Lush uses parabens and other questionable ingredients, and at this point I would neither recommend them nor ever use them myself. However, I'm leaving the blog post up regardless. I love the picture. :) Sometimes I don't make my own stuff. Sometimes (big breath), I buy it. This was the case while ... Continue Reading

Relaxation Antiques
I'm not sure what it is, but antique stores really do something for me these days. Whenever I'm feeling stressed, uninspired, or just plain bored, I'll run down to the nearest shop full of old things, with camera in tow. This is what I did on Wednesday, minutes before the laptop debacle. I have to admit, it ran through my head that perhaps I was being punished for getting so much enjoyment (and photography) out of stores that I spent so little money in. The truth is, I take pictures of things ... Continue Reading
Spur-of-the-Moment Homemade “Shaving Cream”
Earlier this morning, Fiance (pronounced fee-yahnce) stumbled in to take his shower. As he was closing the door, I yelled, "Shave day!" because his neck was looking a little like a mid-July lawn that hadn't seen a mower since April. And I guess the lawn would have been dead, maybe burned a little. I don't know. Whatever it takes to make the lawn black in your head, go with that. Fiance's facial hair growth is, for lack of a better word, kinda freakish. It's uneven, the growth, which prompts ... Continue Reading
Five Good Reasons to Put Food on Your Face
If you're like most women, you've read a magazine or two. It probably had beauty tips in it. They probably made you feel like you were too fat/too frumpy/too lazy/too uninspired ... I can keep going here, but you don't want me to. I feel like that every time I read most women's magazines, so yeah. I know how much they make you think you suck. Wildly backtracking a minute, when I was 5, I took a lot of baths. Lining the bathtub edge were rows of shampoos and conditioners. In my exuberant, ... Continue Reading
YUM! Papaya Fruit Smoothie Facial Mask
Good lord! Blogging is so complicated these days. I feel like an old man who's never seen one of them new-fangled computerizer thingies. I'm heartsick and nostalgic for the Diaryland days of yore, where you wrote, maybe uploaded a picture, and 800 people LOVED EVERY WORD. Now there's Twitter and RSS feeds and gobblediwhatsit social network plug-ins for letting everyone know every time you pick your toes. Never would I have thought I fell so far behind in taking a few years off from ... Continue Reading
Monday’s Lesson – Stumbling – Five Important Things To Trip Over
Stumbling toward enlightenment. That's what I've told myself I've been doing for the majority of my adult life. Every time there's a bump or a fall, I remind myself that I'm stumbling for a greater understanding. Enlightenment. It's a big word that's mired in other people's definitions, when it should be something so true that no one else can define it. "Enlightenment" has become such the new mantra for magazines and pop artists that it no longer seems sacred. It's a commodity, a product, ... Continue Reading
